A Ten Question Interview With The Artist…E.S. Wynn

June 8, 2015 at 11:07 am (Uncategorized)

Your One Phone Call

Why do you write?

Because when you write, you can create a world where everything that happens, happens for a reason. I write to find peace in an otherwise chaotic world.

What books do you read?

Everything. Whatever catches my interest in the moment. Primarily sci-fi, but I enjoy learning about things I previously had no knowledge of.

What inspires you?

Women, coffee, good music and crazy people who have found success.

How did you know you wanted to be a writer and when?

First grade, when I learned how to write. I realized it was easier to paint the pictures in my head with words instead of crayons.

How do you deal with rejection?

I ignore it and keep pushing on.

Who are some writers you admire?

Peter Grandbois, Storm Constantine, Cormac McCarthy and Samuel R. Delany, to name a few.

Is writing the only artistic medium you do?

Whispers Of The World That Was

April 20, 2015 at 9:30 am (Science Fiction, wraeththu) (, )

Whispers Final Front

In my life, there have been few achievements thus far that have meant as much to me as this one does.

“Whispers Of The World That Was” is not only my official (canon) contribution to my favorite author’s sci-fi universe, it will also be my 60th book in print. It brings the post-apocalyptic world of Wraeththu home, for me, as it takes place in the Gold Country, near the Rift of the Damned. How cool is it, to be able to write about a place that means so much to you, and to be able to write about it in a way that appeals so much to you – and further, to be able to take that writing and put it forth as an accepted contribution to the mythos of an author who shines above all others in your eyes? Beyond cool. I am honored.

Cover Text:

Humanity’s time is done. Wraeththu’s time has begun.

Independent, isolationist and protected by the geography and legends surrounding the Rift of the Damned, the hara of the Gold Country live off what they can salvage from the sunken cities and abandoned towns. While hara of tribes elsewhere awaken to their newfound abilities, learn their bodies and discover new gods, the har-men of the Gold Country cling to the old, familiar ways of the human era.

Even before they were har, the folks of Cinder Hill fought against the tides of an ever-changing world, cursing the laws and politicians that killed every industry, except for Wild West tourism. Now, the laws have gone, the world itself torn apart to birth a wild new way of being. But in Cinder Hill echoes of the past linger on; hara who still deny the changes in themselves get by in the only way they know how – as their hardworking human ancestors once did.

When Tyse and his salvage trawler crewmates haul a mysterious object from the ocean, they initiate a series of events that will bring change to the Gold Country, whether those who live there want it or not. Tyse discovers that his terrifying new state of being is the only way to combat an implacable threat that seeks to eradicate all hara from the Gold Country and beyond. Powerful predators have appeared, their origins unknown, and none can hide from these deadly and apparently indestructible hunters. None except – perhaps – a har in control of his own powers.

Gritty and uncompromising, E. S. Wynn brings a new vision to the ground-breaking Wraeththu Mythos, where the humanity remaining in hara fights to resist the inevitable change, and old prejudices and conditioning hamper the evolution of an isolated tribe.

Astride Twin Seas

April 18, 2015 at 8:55 am (Science Fiction)

My 59th book is now available! Spread the word and check out “Astride Twin Seas” today!

From the back cover:
Written partly in California and partly in Hawaii, Astride Twin Seas is a collection of sci-fi short stories that bridge a period when the author was between homes, torn between loves and lost between lives. These are stories of transition, whether gentle or searingly sudden. These are stories of change, of growth, of rebirth, and a delicate, blossoming hope for the future.

Cursed Curiosities Anthology

August 15, 2014 at 12:59 pm (Uncategorized)

Buyer Beware! If you’ve recently approached a strange emporium of oddities or antiquities, I hope you’ve taken a few things into consideration… What urge brought you there? Were you drawn to a particular item on display? Did it call out to you? Though everything inside was for sale, did you consider how much you were willing to spend? Perhaps you proffered the listed price, or perhaps you haggled the price down a bit. But did you consider the imperceptible fine print? You may just find you’ve paid a great deal more than what your parcel is worth. The following twenty-seven works chronicle such transactions.

Cursed Curiosities Cover

My short story, 10:30, is available in Barbwire Butterfly Books’ Cursed Curiosities anthology at Lulu.com. Come along on a journey where what you buy may just come back to haunt you.

Cover 02 SulfuringsThe next anthology in the Biblical Speculative Fiction series from Garden Gnome Publications came out this week! It’s available on Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kobo, Smashwords, and other outlets.

Instead of interviewing all or a few of my antho-mates, I asked just one question to the writers who contributed to this anthology:

If it was your job (as a supernatural being) to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, how would you do it?

ES WynnE.S. Wynn

Flash Fiction: [untranslatable]

I wouldn’t do it! I’d excise the cities from the surface and teleport them to another planet on the other side of the galaxy.

I’d aim a comet toward them and make a crater. Maybe I’d be lucky and get a few other cities, as well.

Short Story: The Mortician of Sodom

One snap of my electric fingers would decimate the debaucherous heathens.

Black Magic: Shotgun Spacebabe

May 4, 2014 at 9:24 am (Science Fiction)

The year is nineteen aught ninety.

The planet: Gore Gulch.

The shotgun: a sawed-off two gauge punt gun that specialist Black Magic calls “The Deuce.”

Five powerful men just pissed off the wrong woman. Five worlds are on her hit list, and even John Herbert Wilson Thomas, the President of the Republic, will find himself in her sights before her rampage is over.

A thrilling tale of revenge in a high-noon sci-fi setting, Black Magic: Shotgun Spacebabe is an action-packed, tongue-in-cheek trip through the stars with a woman too tough to bleed and too pissed off to die.
